Sokhumi University is the only university in Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia. Apart from teaching and scientific activity, it has a function to restore Georgian and Abkhazian cultural relationships, as well as to support peaceful living of Georgians and Abkhazians in Abkhazia.
Sokhumi State University offers a number of academic opportunities, including bachelors, masters and doctoral degree programmes. Presently there are seven faculties in Sokhumi University: Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences. Sokhumi University keeps research and teaching up to date with current developments. Emerging media, based on digital technologies, are ingrained in the academic and immersive learning experiences of Sokhumi State University. Students can acquire skills which are important useful in their careers.
