Dr Walt Kilroy

Dr Kilroy lectures on conflict, security, peacebuilding and development, and in particular the interactions between these processes. He has taught at undergraduate and post-graduate level on these topics, including the design, delivery, and assessment of modules. Dr Kilroy has also provided training in NGOs working in development and conflict. His research focuses on mediation and on peacebuilding in post-war settings, especially the reintegration of ex-combatants after the wars in Sierra Leone and Liberia. His PhD on this topic was awarded the Basil Chubb Prize for the best thesis in political science in Ireland (2012). He has published in peer reviewed journals, and his book Reintegration of Ex-Combatants after Conflictis published by Palgrave Macmillan in April 2015.
